Hurricane Irma Eye Makes Land Fall Near Big Pine Key

Key West, Florida– Hurricane Irma Eye Wall has made landfall as a CAT 4 hurricane near Big Pine Key, Florida  just moments ago. People are warned to stay inside due to flying debris. Florida Department of Emergency Management estimates that 6.5 million Floridians have been ordered to evacuate. Approximately 24,000 restoration personnel have been activated to help restore power as quickly as possible following the storm’s impact. Governor Scott activated the entire force of the Florida Army and Air National Guard earlier this week in preparation of landfall. Officials tell Florida Gazette if you have an emergency to call 911.
